I was wandering around the web looking for riding groups in S. Africa (as I will be back in S. Africa and Swaziland again in 2010 for ministry/missions work) and found your website. Thanks for sharing all that great information about riding, hints/tips, safety, funnies, etc. But, mostly for having on the site the links for the Bible and the Romans Road!
Thank you for all you do in spreading the Gospel and leading others to the Lord!
Grace, peace and blessings.

Hi Johan, I would just like to inform about a few of your members in Cape Town I had met and became friends with. Alex and Leon Botha came into my shop about 4 months ago and by chance I have been going through a life changing experience of some sorts. We chatted and i found out who they are and things progressed from there. My dad recently became ill again and had been in hospital for a few weeks. Alex decided to visit him and ended up chatting for a long time which myself my family and my dad appreciate. He passed away last week but i really want to take this opportunity to let you know who we appreciated it and i have spoken to Alex and Leon but thought i would let you know as well.
They both are certainly a asset to your club.
Kind Regards

Hi Johan, I have been going through your web site and find it very informative. We recently went up to ET for a biking week end and had a tragedy before we got there, one of the guy's wiped out and unfortunately was killed. Need less to say we came home as this cast a very dark shadow over all of us. I was reading your bike riding tip's and every thing you say makes sense. I have been riding for quiet a number of year's and believe me I don't know it all, one thinks you do but believe me you don't. I have done a track school at Kyalami, and I found it to be very informative. I reckon every body who rides a bike should at least do one training course, it the same as if you drive a car, one should go and do an advanced driving course, or at least a defensive driving course. It takes away all the bad habits one learns over the year's. Keep up the good work and you have a great site.

Mervin Short

Hi Johan, I met who I think is your brother outside Virgin Active riding a black Kawasaki 600 (I ride a green and black bike of the same make). He referred me to www.deadmen.co.za and I immediately expected to find a “wild “ website and thought my expectations were well founded when I saw the warning “open at your own risk”.
I was pleasantly surprised to see the other side to bikers and my faith in bikers went up a notch. I booked to run in the Foot of Africa Marathon some years ago but on arriving at my accommodation by bike was told that “we do not admit bikers”. I was a little upset but thought that bikers probably deserve the negative reputation. Please thank your brother for the help with some of the problems I have been having in acquiring parts and services for my bike and for sharing his faith with me through your website. I have had a good look through your website.
See attachment in case your brother does not remember me.
Thanks again.

Good afternoon,
I often visit the web pages of the site and find it very helpful and easy to navigate around…
I have just visited the Wall of Remembrance page, and it is very difficult to go through the names to see so many fallen riders.
One can help but think that so many lost their lives in senseless accidents, if only motorist would also play their part and just give one more observation, which is not much to ask…
I also wanted to say thanks for a wonderful and updated site…

L'Chaim Johan,

Great site! I'm a born again biker in both senses of the term. I bought a bike about 5 months ago and started riding again, having last ridden in the mid-seventies (I'm afraid that this ages me a little), and..... I love our Lord Jesus the Messiah passionately. I am amazed to see how many bikers have bowed the knee to Yeshua's lordship. It's wonderful!!

I wish you guys were represented down our way. Every blessing.

The Salvation Army Charity Run – 1st June, 2008:

It is with deep appreciation that we, the Syndicate (West Rand), extend our thanks to the West Rand Biker’s Association, President’s Council, related Clubs, other Syndicate Chapters and independent riders that supported our efforts in assisting the Salvation Army with the procurement of much needed items used to assist the needy within our community.

The run was well attended, well over 100 bikes. We were proud of the support and turn out that morning, evidence of the fact that the West Rand Clubs and President’s Council will go the extra mile to support each other. Thanks too to those Bikers who assisted as Road Marshals.

Once again it is with pride that we as bikers can say that we could proudly and in an organized fashion, contribute toward assisting yet again another worthy cause in our community. This we hope will surely be a demonstration of the fact that we are proving that bikers can also be worthy of respect within our community.

Please distribute this letter of appreciation to all the WRBA Clubs and President’s Council.

In appreciation.

Yours sincerely, Angelo Carikas

My sister mailed me today, saying she was on your website and came across a mail which she forwarded to me. It was a mail that Anthony van Zyl send in after he browsed your website. Telling about his uncle that died last year November (REVO HARRIS). Revo was my employer 4 years ago, but still a friend after I left. My Husband and Revo went to school from grade 1 – 12.

Revo was on his way home from Marius Venters' Funeral (also a biker who died in a motorcycle accident) when he hit a train that was crossing the road. Marius was also a friend of ours.
Thank you for this remarkable way of remembering those who died on motorbikes.
I think the page you dedicate to these people is wonderful.

Hi to all DEAD MEN CLUB RIDERS, My name is Anthoney (Ant’s) I’m 30 years old riding for Mutts. Today I didn’t have much to do at work and found a web site DEAD MEN RIDING.
I looked trough it and boy thanks for the WALL OF REMEMBRANCE. I lost my uncle last year 21 November 2007 (Revo Harris) brother of Hennie Harris riding for NO RULES, up and till today it’s hard to get him out of our minds as this has been the biggest loss to our family, to all other bikers how lost some one in this way my hard goes out to you all as I know what it feels like to lose some one you love and knowing he is no longer with us but in our harts.
To all DEAD MEN CLUB RIDERS keep up the good work as I have enjoyed you’re web site and hope to see more updated photo’s and meet some of you soon.

Dankie nogmals, Groete,
Corrie Heyneke

Good morning Mr. van Eck! I have just (For the first time) had a look at your web site, due to the fact that I have had limited internet access, that is until I started my new job at Anglo on Monday.

Just had to tell you that it is possibly the BEST motorcycling site that I have ever had the privilege of setting my eyes upon, it moved something deep in my soul boet.

Absolutely fantastic stuff, congratulations, well done and much more required than my measly vocabulary can mention.

Keep up the good work.

I never suspected that you were a Christian Club and was a bit dubious about the Christian sayings etc on your mails to Chris, so now I guess I know and I say Praise God for you guys, keep up the good work and ride safe. Hi Deon, There is no need for thanks. The funeral was the measure of the man. Lebo would have loved to be there, but even as Johan was delivering his marvelous eulogy, Lebo and the kids were trying to get into JFK and they were being hassled. I genuinely believe that the essence of humanity is the living RELATIONS between the individual and other, the individual and his community and the individual and the cosmos. I had a relationship with Dirk and death did not terminate it - it simply changed it. In a real sense death is the ultimate leveler. So all are equal in death: seniority in the organization is then meaningless - but humanity is not. I was struck by the spirituality of your team - and it took a dignified funeral to remind me of everyone's spirituality.

Sim

Hello Johan
How do I start, God is always Good. As a member South Side Riders (SSR) and a family member of Ralph and Rose, I am praying and thanking our Lord Jesus Christ for fellow bikers like you, Eugene, Sean and the other fellow Christian bikers. I know from speaking to Rose that your council was always appreciated and understood.
Some of the lessons learned with Rose illness are that God is not a spare wheel only needed when in trouble, but a Living, Loving Lifesaver who always has enough Strength to pull us from despair.
We ask God blessing and savior for Rose, Ralph and David. Please convey our thanks and prayers for yourself, Dead Men Riding, Soldiers for Jesus, and all other.

Hello Johan, I regularly visit your club website and find a gem of gems for the bikers of our land. What your club represents and how you present yourselves by virtue of this site is indicative of the many “kind people” we have in ZA. If only more “anti – motorcyclists” can come across members of the biking fraternity like the “Dead Men Riding” and the “CMA” then maybe they change their perceptions.

Anyway. Love you website. Learn a lot from it…and when I need info the first site I visit for contact numbers is yours. The events calendar is awesome stuff. WELL DONE GUYS!

Hi there Johan, I hope this e-mail finds you in good spirits and in excellent health.
I have not seen you for some time, it’s OK, I know you are a big strong guy… even without me… (ha ha ha)
Listen, I’m terribly sorry to cut to the chase of my contact, but I have just been informed of the most unfortunate death of Trevor's mom who was ill for some time now. She passed away this morning.
I shan't go into much more detail, but I think the essence of this contact is to inform our brothers who know ‘Crusty’ well enough to do what is right and bow head in front a man who has extended his arms well beyond the reaches of most men.
I bring you this news in great faith that you may also be able to spare a few minutes to assist in prayer for the gentleman. Trevor ‘Crusty’ Barnes is the closest man I know to my heart, and I KNOW he will need people to help him up, like he has
For many other people most of us don’t even know about, who are not even ‘bikers’.
Thank you for your tireless perseverance. Your soul is marked.
I bid thee farewell and Godspeed.

Morning Johan,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you personally,  and on behalf of all the other fellow bikers out there for your commitment to uniting the biker community (patch or patchless), I think that you have shared an integral part of our lives as bikers. Keeping us up to date on the good the bad and the ugly, but most of all uniting us not only as bikers but as families.  Johan for this we would all like to say "WELL DONE", may you be rewarded with the wheels turning and all your good deeds coming back to you.

These few short lines to you fellow bikers

Could never, ever say the many loving wishes

That I'll make for you each day.

So if you read between these lines,

The way i hope you'll do,

You'll know we all going to bike safely,

To see the next year through!

There is a lot of comment and praise for the work and time expended by Johan for his unequivocal dedication toward the WHOLE of the biker community and then some...
But I feel a praise is long overdue honouring the gentleman himself as one whom has become a keystone within our biker community and cornerstone within most of our hearts.
I for one have drawn much from the universal strength that this 'gentle-giant' has limitlessly passed upon his 'flock', us the relentless 'biker.
May your soul be richly blessed with the honour few ever attain..

Hi Johan, Just a quick mail to thank yourself, and all the D.M.R. as well as the fellow bikers who prayed for me whilst I was stuck in Windhoek, and whilst I was ill, I am now safely back in Angola, on site and as healthy as I've ever been, and all I can say is that it is through the grace of God and through all the prayer, I know that it took me a while to say thanks, and I'm truly sorry for the delay, my only regrets are that i can't be there to go on all the jols with you okes, but everyone has a place and a purpose, and mine is here, (for the moment at least), but I know that you guys will be out there carrying the name of the Almighty high, and you are all in my prayers.

Thanks as well for keeping me updated on the events that are happening there, it's good to be able to have some contact with the outside world, even if it is through e-mail. God Bless, and keep up the good work. Thank you once more,

Hey Johan, saw you guys on the Impala.  You can really moer the tyre a long way!  Only later saw that Dead Men Riding is a Christian Club.  That's absolutely amazing! Very cool name I must admit, it really got me thinking.  Didn't know that Christians were allowed to smoke and drink, saw you ouks doing it without throwing your name.  Well done for being real. Very cool to see a real people's Christian club.  Well done on your site, it is excellent!  Other Christian clubs should take lessons from you, they can be really very irrelevant.

Hallo dear Motorcycle friends! Just been on this website and loved it all the way! I am the maker of a Dutch website, where I try to pass on the world of Motorcycling into a larger public. I have already a gallery about Motorbikes in general, two gallery's with Harley Davidson festivals, one gallery with the speed of the bikes (World Superbikes) and finaly I am busy with the latest galery; Classic Motorcycles. Here we are at the point it might get interesting for you (and me ofcourse!): I am looking for people who want to display one or more of their Motorcycles in this gallery. More gallery's are about to follow, like; Ice Speedway, Scramble and many more, all the ingredients of our bond with Motorcycles and all kinds of people! In the picture has to be a nice classic bike, someone near or on top of the bike is no problem and (yes, even encouraged) with a short story about the bike and the people in the frame it might suit the Motorcycle gallery. It's no problem for me to go out in one of the museums or go to some Classic Bike event and shoot a lot of pictures by myself, but this gallery is about what the people want to show by themselves, with their own story to it. Maybe you like to be one of the persons, or your friends, who makes this gallery a succes in the Motorcycle World. I am working very hard to try to do so, hopefully you will join me and contribute some pictures! This gallery you can find at this webaddress, http://hansviveen5.fotopic.net and go on to "Classic Motorcycles" All copyrights from the pictures you send in will stay by the owner or maker from the photographs, digital photographs will be adapted in Photoshop (if required). Pass the word, I realy can use it! Thanks for your time and maybe, till next time. For contact about this item: familieviveen@planet.nl Greetings and regards, Hans Viveen from Gorinchem - Holland.

Johan,

Groetnis,
