Peter Nicholson (Highway Dragons)

November 2007

Peter Nicholson, Highway Dragons, died to day on the Spaghetti junction at the Pavilion, Westville, Durban whilst riding home from a breakfast run. He was in the fast lane and hit a car rounding a bend. Peter had his number plate in the front of his riding jacket and it went into his neck and broke it. He died on the scene. He leaves behind a girlfriend who is expecting a baby soon. Highway Dragons Eban and JJ, both survived the accident. JJ also hit the car and has a badly dislocated pelvis and a burst spleen which has since been removed. Eban saw the accident and tried to avoid it, threw away his bike (which he only got yesterday!) and managed to get out of the way with only a roastie on his knee. They were going on the breakfast run to the south coast and there had been an diesel spill. The RTI had narrowed the lanes so they could clean up. There were no signs or anyone to indicate there was a problem ahead. As they went over the rise the cars had started to pile up and they couldn't stop in time. Peter's Memorial - Friday 16th Nov.
